Lake Huron Lakewide Action and ManagementPlans (LAMPs) The Lakewide Action and Management Plans (LAMPs) are binational action plans for restoring and protecting the Great Lakes ecosystem. The Binational Partnership facilitates information sharing, sets priorities, and coordinates binational environmental protection and restoration activities. Wetlands are generally considered to be among the most productive habitats on earth. As the landscape connection between upland and aquatic ecosystems, they posess many of the attributes of both systems and perform functions that extend beyond the wetland boundary into both systems. In Lake Huron, wetlands comprise a small fraction of the total area, but they provide nearshore habitat for many. New research by NOAA and partners finds that two species of invasive Asian carp -- the bighead carp and silver carp, collectively known as bigheaded carps -- could be capable of establishing populations in Saginaw Bay, Lake Huron and affecting the health of ecologically and economically important fish species such as yellow perch.
